Add a list of links to the form  and submit it to get a single link to them all, conveniently displayed in tabs. Great for sharing in Email, IM, Twitter, or SMS.

Very easy to use.

  May media bits...

------> 3 Gossips --  a memory from a great trip to Utah and Arizona just a year ago... right after school was out.. and here we are really close to the end of this school year...

Thought you might be interested... May 16th is state science day — focus is on Wind energy.. I don’t know where I read about that..  Just noticed it on my calendar.. If I find a good link I will email it out..

That will also be the last day for students to check out books, May 16th.  The day for all books to be returned by is May 21st..  The Media center will be closed for the Volunteer Luncheon on May 22nd. And the last day for students to visit the Media Center, (unless prearranged) is Friday, May 23rd.. As I will begin doing my inventory and end of year reports.

Thanks for those of you who completed the survey..         Flo ..

Extra little bits .... For your perusual.....

Plan Now for Summer Reading

May is Get Caught Reading Month   (G), and it's time to start making your plans to encourage students to keep reading once classes are over. Try these resources to get your students involved in independent reading all summer long.

Introduce book clubs to your students now with the ReadWriteThink lesson plan Book Clubs:Reading for Fun <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/326/0/>  (E) -- then encourage your students to meet and read during the summer months. The English Journal article "Reading Adolescents: Book Clubs for YA Readers <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/8862/0/> " (S-TE) examines what happened when college students in an adolescent literature class met young readers encountering young adult literature in a book club setting.

To learn more about the ways book groups can create for faculty and students an informal space to connect meaningfully through reflective discussion of texts, read the English Journal article "Facilitating a Summer Reading Book Group Program <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/8863/0/> " (S). For another take on book clubs with older students, check out "Watch Out, Oprah! A Book Club Assignment for Literature Courses <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/8864/0/> " (C) from Teaching English in the Two-Year College. If face-to-face meetings aren't possible, suggest online discussion of the books students read.

To structure independent reading and support summer reading, have students complete a reading plan, a simple wish list of books they hope to read in the future. The ReadWriteThink lesson Developing Reading Plans to Support Independent Reading <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/1777/0/>  (M) invites students to reflect on the texts that they have read and then compile lists of books they want to read next. To prepare older students, invite students to create brochures and fliers that suggest books and genres to explore during the summer months with the ReadWriteThink lesson Authentic Persuasive Writing to Promote Real Summer Reading <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/330/0/>  (S).

For more ideas for summer reading, see the Summer Reading and Learning Teaching Resource Collection <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/1780/0/>  and the Summer Activities <http://lists.ncte.org/t/1322876/4787154/6667/0/>  for families page on the ReadWriteThink site.

TECH Tip of the Month

Have you ever wanted to send a PowerPoint presentation as an email attachment but it was simply too big? More than likely it’s the graphics that are causing the  file size to be larger than acceptable. Learn how, in less than a minute, to compress  the size of those images without losing their quality.

READING Counts Awards are done .... And another 700 + quizzes have been added. All schools in the district were given a list of 400 quizzes added to the main scholastic server. We are now in the process of trying to identify which books we have in our library.. (not too many of them- as I think the titles are geared more to MS & HS)  With my state allocation I purchase 370+ - which puts our total number of quizzes ...
