Media Story - literacy lessons Summary

Welcome ... When I create my lessons for the students.. I want them to be fun and entertaining.. but yet I always have an underlying objective to get across. The thing I love to do is take any childrens book.. and find the content objectives that can be demonstrated. I peruse the grade level pacing calendars to figure out what the teacher is doing in her world/or classroom and then tie my lessons in to that reading, math or science  strategy being worked on. .. In developing my yearly plans or ideas.. I strive to gear myself towards an area of the curriculum.. that relates to the schools annual goals.. ie.  science, math.. All my lessons will incorporate at least one state standard in that area.  I have created a FileMaker Pro database for all my lesson plans. This enables me to easily cross match the standards and objectives, delineate my steps, and list needed resources, and then provide the classroom teacher with a printout of my lesson and some possible follow-up activities.  This school year(2008-2009) our school focus is multicultural, and my personal focus is global 21st century skills and project based learning(PBL.)  Therefore my lessons are geared towards that endeavor.  My favorite source of insight are the calendars found on the following web sites..
